ExpertWind Insights: Q1 2026 Product Update

This update introduces several new capabilities across ExpertWind Insights, strengthening how operators investigate wind farm performance, prioritise issues and translate diagnostics into measurable improvements.

Several of the concepts behind these developments were introduced in our recent articles on performance time scales, closing the loop from detection to improvement and choosing the right analytical tools. This release brings many of these ideas directly into the platform.

New capabilities

Several new modules extend how operational data can be analysed and interpreted.

• Farm Intelligence: Provides a structured summary of what matters most for each wind farm: production results, key performance losses and the main diagnostic issues affecting operation. It gives operators a clear and consistent view of the farm’s operational situation and the key factors driving performance.

• Insights Lab: Adds a flexible analysis environment for operational data investigations. Turbines can be compared under controlled conditions, relationships between signals can be explored and operational hypotheses can be tested directly on the data.

• Farm States: Introduces a spatial overview of turbine behaviour across the farm, highlighting differences in energy production, losses, performance indicators and diagnostic signals between turbines.

• Farm Replay: Allows wind farm operation to be replayed over time, helping interpret transient events and understand how turbines responded to changing wind conditions.

New diagnostics and operational insights

The platform also introduces new diagnostics that expand visibility on turbine behaviour and operational constraints.

• Structural Exposure: Highlights turbines accumulating higher structural usage relative to their energy production and provides a breakdown by major component groups.

• Curtailment Plans: Automatically identifies recurring curtailment plans applied to turbines and the conditions under which they occur, such as time of day, wind speed, temperature or wind sector. This allows operators to verify whether the detected behaviour matches the expected curtailment strategy.

From diagnosis to improvement

This update also strengthens how diagnostic findings translate into operational action and measurable performance gains.

• AEP Simulator: Estimates the potential energy gain associated with resolving alerts or applying manual improvements, and tracks realised recovery once actions are implemented.

• Alert impact and prioritisation: Alerts now include both an estimated AEP impact and a unified severity score, enabling issues to be prioritised based on their potential energy consequence and operational significance.

Workflow and usability improvements

Several additions improve how operational investigations and expert workflows are organised within the platform.

• Farm Journal timeline: Provides a chronological view of key results, alerts, actions, meetings and decisions for each wind farm, creating a structured operational history.

• Meeting Notes and Reports: Expert discussions, conclusions and reports can now be stored directly within the platform, ensuring investigations remain visible and traceable over time.

Additional improvements include refinements to turbine stops analysis, turbine upgrade studies, power curve exports and diagnostic navigation across the platform.

Continuous platform development

These updates continue the evolution of ExpertWind Insights towards a structured environment where operational data, diagnostics and expert workflows are integrated within a single platform.

The objective remains the same: helping wind farm owners and operators move from operational data to clear conclusions, prioritised actions and measurable improvements in wind farm performance.
